Call Toledo Area Humane Society and ask what you can do to help the animals! You can help by raising money to care for abused and neglected animals or you can help collect or make items for the animals. Here is a sample of what some classes have done:
Hold a raffle with $1 tickets or guess the number of dog bones for $1 and win a prize (which the Humane Society provides--- scooters, CD walkman, gift certificates to Circuit City are just a few prizes in the past)
Hold a bake sale and sell items around school
Have a coin drive
Make toys and treats for animals and sell at school.
Set a goal and if the class reaches it, give a reward such as having a pizza party, having a Humane Society rep bring in an animal and bring t-shirts and Frisbees to give out during a presentation, get five minutes extra for lunch.
Recycle cans and give the proceeds to the Humane Society
Hold a raffle to throw a pie in the Principal's face
Other ideas for helping the Humane Society are to do a collection drive for items needed at the Humane Society. Some of the items we are always in need of include:
Fleece cat hammocks for the cats to lie in-they love these!
Dog treats (especially Beggin' Strips, Pupperoni, Canine Carryouts, etc)
Dog toys (especially Kongs and rope toys)
Cat treats (especially catnip and Pounce)
Cat toys
Cat litter
Dog and cat food (especially IAMS)
